Dr. Subroto Das

Dr. Subroto Das is a distinguished analytical chemist with over four decades of experience in industrial chemistry. He currently serves as the CEO of Purnima Analytical, a company he founded in 2015, which specializes in reverse engineering and chemical analysis using advanced techniques such as FTIR, NMR, Mass Spectroscopy, HPLC, and LCMS.
Dr. Das completed his Ph.D. in Characterization of Cobalt (III) complexes from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, in 1985. Prior to that, he earned his Master’s degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, in 1980, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Pune University in 1977.
Throughout his career, Dr. Das has held significant positions in various organizations. He worked as a Research Associate at Hindustan Unilever Ltd from 1984 to 1994, focusing on surfactants and detergency, and was honored with the Best Scientist Award by the Hindustan Lever Research Association in 1990. He also served as Senior Manager at SMZS Ltd from 1996 to 1999, and as Head of Method Development Laboratories at Pidilite Industries from 1999 to 2015, where he specialized in deformulation and characterization of polymers, inorganic fillers, and surfactants.
In addition to his corporate roles, Dr. Das is actively involved in professional societies. He is the Secretary of the Society for Industrial Chemistry, an organization he helped establish in 2015 to bridge the gap between scientists and industry professionals in the field of industrial chemistry.
Dr. Das’s extensive expertise encompasses inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, pigments, surfactants, NMR, polymers, and rheology. His contributions to research in polymers and pigments, along with his patents on detergents, highlight his commitment to advancing chemical science.
